Walking Breaks in the Heart of Cornwall

Enjoy a 3-Night Walking Break exploring the dramatic and varied Coastline of Cornwall, with the finest landscapes, history and culture staying at our b&b at St Austell, Cornwall.

The Clay Trails of Cornwall

  • The Pentewan Trail - around 4km (2.5 miles), the trail begins in the village of London Apprentice and ends at the harbour
  • The Green Corridor - around 3.5km (2 miles) is a walk with a gentleslope starting at Tremena in St Austell and ends at the China Clay Country Park.
  • The Wheal Martyn Trail - a slightly harder walk of 8km (5 miles), starts in the China Clay Country Park
  • The Bugle to Eden Trail - is 6km (3.5 miles) and easier.  The trail starts in the village of Bugle and ends at the Eden Project.
  • The St Blazey Trail - around 5km (3 miles) runs from the town of St Blazey to Par Beach.

For the more experienced walker there is The Saint's Way and Cornwall Coast Path.

  • The Saint's Way - is a long distance footpath from Padstow to Fowey.  Approximately 43km (27 miles), the footpath features historic remains, beautiful churches and a varied landscape of valleys and woodlands.
  • Cornwall Coast Path - Mevagissey to Polperro - this part of the Coast Path is approximately 40km (25 miles) and has both spectacular and interesting views, incorporating the china clay landscape.  From Mevagissey, descend into the pretty village of Pentewan and around the headland to Porthpean Beach.  The working fishing harbour of Charlestown, with its picturesque tall ships, is just two miles from the market town of St Austell.  Onto Carlyon Bay and your hotel location, popping in for a delicious Cornish Cream Tea en route to Par along the cliff top.  Passing through Polkerris, descending to Polridmouth Beach you pass the former home of the author Daphne Du Maurier, thought to be the inspiration for Manderley from her novel 'Rebecca'.  Onto Readymoney, the road will take you to Fowey where you can cross on the Polruan Ferry leading into the coves and cliffs of Polperro.  What better way to see the beautiful Cornish countryside.
